A Sharp Knife is a Safe Knife!
We did it — and we’re continuing in 2026. $10,000 raised. ❤️
In 2025, we set ourselves a clear goal: raise $10,000 for the CHEO Foundation, to support care and research for sick children.
Thanks to $1 from every knife sharpening, along with direct donations, we’re proud to say that we officially reached that goal.
This milestone belongs to everyone who brought in a knife, shared our message, or contributed along the way. What started as a simple promise turned into a real, tangible impact — and because of that, we’re continuing the initiative throughout 2026.
We offer a wide range of sharpening services designed to suit almost every type of blade. Whether it’s kitchen knives — Japanese, Western, or traditional — pocket knives, fillet knives, outdoor blades, or even kitchen and utility shears, we’ve got you covered.
Each knife is evaluated individually and sharpened according to its steel type, geometry, and intended use. From thin Japanese carbon blades that require a refined, precise edge to more robust Western profiles built for durability, we adjust our approach to bring out the best performance from your knife.
Sharpening turnaround time depends on the quantity and condition of your knives, but in most cases you can expect about a 24-hour turnaround — drop them off one day, pick them up the next. Fast, consistent, and performance-focused.

We sharpen kitchen and utiility scissors — the everyday workhorses used in the kitchen and around the house. From basic shears to general-purpose household scissors, we restore clean cutting performance and smooth action.
Important: We do not service specialized scissors such as hair salon shears, fabric/tailoring scissors, or other precision trade tools.
Beyond sharpening, we also offer a range of repair and restoration services to bring damaged or worn knives back to life. This includes fixing broken tips, repairing chipped edges, replacing or repairing broken handles, blade thinning, edge reprofiling, and more.
Every knife is different — and so is every repair. The best approach depends on the steel type, blade geometry, heat treatment, and overall condition. That’s why we prefer to see the knife in person whenever possible. Once we evaluate it, we’ll explain what can be done, what to expect, and recommend the most sensible solution based on performance, cost, and long-term durability.
Some repairs are quick and straightforward. Others require more time and precision work. Turnaround varies depending on the extent of the damage and current workload, but we’ll always give you a clear estimate before proceeding.

Knife geometry is key, and a crucial step during the repair of a knife or the sharpening of an aging knife that is often overlooked is knife thinning. Thinning is essential for upkeeping the blade's performance, involving the grinding down of the primary bevel to better reveal the cutting core and ensure a sharp, razor-like feel.

View full detailsOur shop is based in Gatineau, just 10 minutes away from downtown Ottawa. We understand that finding a reliable source to sharpen your knives can be difficult, which is why we also offer mail-in sharpening services.
Our wet-machine sharpening starts at 10$ per knife and our traditional Japanese Whetstone sharpening which includes polishing and stropping starts at 20$ per knife.
Typically we prefer that your knives are left with us for a few hours to ensure they are done properly. Since we are a storefront, we have walk-in clients which could delay the sharpening if you are waiting.
Machine sharpening typically takes less than 10 minutes per knife and removes more metal from the edge than the traditional hand-sharpening. Our hand-sharpening also includes additional blade polishing whichi is highly recommended for knives made from hard steel such as Japanese knives.
While bringing them here dull is usually the easiest part, bringing them crisp sharp back home can pose risks. We recommend that you wrap the blades in a towel and put them in a box. If needed, we also sell some blade guards and cases in store.
Sharpening isn't hard per say, but it requires a lot of patience and practice in order to be mastered. We typically see that a proper hand-sharpening session takes between 30 and 90 minutes all depending on the condition of the blade and experience.
We truly specialize in knives and offer limited sharpening service on a few other products. We do not currently sharpen; industrial tools, saws, drills, scissors. If you have something outside of this list, give us a call to see if we can sharpen it: 819-317-1000.
