Fully hand-forged in Japan — and built as true collector’s pieces. These 210mm Kiritsuke from the Yorokobi SP series aren’t just another blades… they’re the kind of rare, high-end pieces where everything — steel, finish, grind, and overall execution — has been pushed further than usual.
At the core, you're getting SLD semi-stainless steel. It sits right between carbon and stainless in feel — holding an edge exceptionally well, offering more toughness than most high-hardness carbons, and remaining far more forgiving in day-to-day use. It’s the kind of steel that performs hard without demanding constant attention.
What really sets these blades apart is the finish and how it has been executed. The primary bevel carries a blasted migaki finish that contrasts beautifully with the upper section of the blade. Above it, a dark kurouchi finish blends into revealed Damascus patterns that emerge right at the top of the bevel — impossible to miss.
Then there’s the spine. Exposed Damascus running toward the tip showcases the layered construction in a way that’s rarely seen, and even more rarely executed this cleanly. It adds another dimension to the knives — not just visually, but structurally — allowing you to see exactly how they were built.
The Kiritsuke profile brings it all together. Long, flat, and purposeful, with a pronounced tip that excels in precise work while still handling larger prep with ease. These blades have presence on the board, yet remain controlled and deliberate through every cut.
Every detail points to one thing — these knives were never meant to be average. From the blasted bevel and kurouchi contrast to the Damascus reveals and exposed spine, they stand out even among high-end Japanese knives.
