Fully hand-forged in Japan — and built as a true collector’s piece. This 210mm Kiritsuke from the Yorokobi SP series isn’t just another blade… it’s one of those rare, high-end pieces where everything — steel, finish, grind — is pushed further than usual.
At the core, you’re getting SLD semi-stainless steel. It sits right between carbon and stainless in feel — holds an edge extremely well, stays tougher than most high-hardness carbons, and is far more forgiving in day-to-day use. It’s the kind of steel that performs hard without demanding constant attention.
What really sets this blade apart is the finish and how it’s been executed. The primary bevel carries a blasted migaki that contrasts beautifully with the upper section of the blade. Above it, a dark kurouchi finish blends into revealed Damascus patterns that emerge right at the top of the bevel — impossible to miss.
Then there’s the spine. Exposed Damascus that runs towards the tip, showcasing the layered construction in a way that’s rarely seen, and even more rarely done this clean. It adds another dimension to the blade — not just visual, but structural — where you’re seeing exactly how the knife was built.
The Kiritsuke profile brings it all together. Long, flat, and aggressive, with a pronounced tip that excels in precise work while still handling larger prep with ease. It has presence on the board, but stays controlled and deliberate in every cut.
Every detail on this piece points to one thing — it’s not meant to be average. From the blasted bevel to the kurouchi contrast, the Damascus reveals, and the exposed spine, this is a blade that stands out even among high-end knives.
