Forged in Tokyo, Japan, by fourth-generation bladesmith Teruyasu Fujiwara, the Maboroshi series is known for its exceptional cutting performance, traditional craftsmanship, and unmistakable rustic character.

Made with a Shirogami #1 (White Steel #1) carbon steel core, hardened to approximately 64–65 HRC, the blade offers excellent edge retention and the ability to achieve an incredibly sharp cutting edge. The stainless steel cladding helps reduce maintenance, while the signature Tsuchime finish gives each knife its unique handmade appearance.

With its compact 130mm blade, this Petty is perfect for smaller kitchen tasks such as trimming meat, slicing fruits, preparing vegetables, and handling more delicate work. The Western-style handle offers a comfortable, familiar grip with great control.

Fujiwara knives are a little different from what you might expect at this price point. Don't expect perfectly polished surfaces or flawless cosmetic finishes. These knives are traditionally handmade, with a focus on heat treatment, shape, and cutting performance rather than fancy finishing. It's part of their charm, and exactly why so many knife enthusiasts appreciate them. Shirogami 1 is known to naturally develop a beautiful patina with proper care and regular use.
