This Collector's Edition is limited to just 9 individually numbered pieces, born from a unique collaboration between Kakushin, renowned Québec tattoo artist Shaolin (Miguel), and the enduring tradition of Japanese knifemaking.
Drawing inspiration from Japanese folklore and tattoo culture, Miguel—widely recognized for his bold Japanese-inspired artwork—created an original hand-drawn Hannya mask exclusively for this project. His illustration was permanently engraved by the Kakushin team onto an authentic Japanese carbon steel Higonokami, blending contemporary Québec artistry with over a century of Japanese blade-making tradition. Each knife is then individually inspected, sharpened to our exact standards, and carefully packaged in-house before leaving our workshop, ensuring every collector receives a piece that's as exceptional in performance as it is in presentation.
Handmade in Japan by a workshop whose roots trace back to traditional katana forging, the Higonokami remains one of Japan's most iconic folding knives. Rather than relying on modern locking mechanisms or ball-bearing systems, it stays faithful to its original friction-folding design—a timeless mechanism that has earned its reputation through simplicity and reliability for well over a century.
The blade features a traditional warikomi construction with a high-carbon SK5 steel cutting core, delivering the crisp cutting feel, edge retention, and ease of sharpening that have made Japanese carbon steels legendary among enthusiasts. Its forged finish preserves the raw character of traditional Japanese craftsmanship while serving as the perfect canvas for Miguel's detailed Hannya engraving.
Each knife is individually engraved with its unique serial number, 1 through 9, ensuring no two collectors own the same piece. Once this edition is sold out, it will never be produced again. Every knife is presented in an exclusive wooden collector's box, making it a true heirloom-worthy collectible.
Because every knife is individually forged in Japan, engraved by Kakushin, and finished by hand, slight forge marks, surface scratches, or minor variations are entirely normal. These are not imperfections, but the unmistakable signature of genuine craftsmanship and the reason every piece is truly one of a kind.

The only exceptions are custom knife assemblies or engraving, which may require 3-5 days before shipping. Everything is done in-house, so even with the extra steps, it’s still exceptionally fast.
Canadian orders can say goodbye to unexpected duties, additional customs fees and exchange rate fluctuations; all our prices are clear and upfront.
For international orders, we take care of providing the declarations documents on items from foreign countries.
