At first glance, it’s that raw kurouchi finish that grabs you—rugged, forged, and refreshingly unpolished. It looks tough and no-nonsense, but look closer and the refinement starts to show. The spine tapers cleanly from a thicker, confident heel down to a sharp, controlled tip, giving this tiny blade a surprising amount of stability and precision.
This is part of the Hatsukokoro Blue #2 series—a lineup that doesn’t just borrow from Japanese bladesmithing tradition, it actually lives it. Each knife is hand-forged in Japan by craftsmen keeping the heritage of regions like Tosa and Sakai alive. Hardened to around 62 HRC, the Aogami Blue #2 core delivers that crisp, razor-friendly sharpness carbon steel fans love, while still being easy to touch up and maintain.
