The Kakushin × Noah Vachon × Jérémie Yelle Collection represents the meeting of two worlds—Japanese-inspired blade geometry and traditional Québec craftsmanship. Designed and forged in Québec, Canada, these blades were created for enthusiasts who appreciate the aesthetics and cutting performance of Japanese kitchen knives while supporting local makers pushing the craft forward.
This particular knife goes a step further. Rather than remaining blade-only, it has been transformed into a true one-of-one custom creation, hand-assembled here at Kakushin with a premium stabilized wood handle. Carefully selected for its exceptional figure and natural character, the wood adds warmth and personality while perfectly complementing the clean forged blade. Since every block of stabilized wood is unique, no two knives will ever be exactly alike.
Forged from 26C3 high-carbon steel and heat treated to approximately 62 HRC, the blade delivers exceptional edge performance, remarkable ease of sharpening, and the crisp, responsive cutting feel that has made 26C3 one of the most respected modern carbon steels among bladesmiths. A subtle hamon reveals the differential hardening process, while a light tsuchime finish near the spine adds texture without distracting from the blade's refined appearance.
A beautifully executed distal taper allows the spine to progressively thin toward the tip, improving balance, agility, and cutting precision. The spine and choil are carefully polished for comfort, giving the knife a refined feel in hand before it even touches the cutting board.
Inspired by Japanese knife-making while proudly forged in Québec, this collaboration stands on its own rather than imitating tradition. Thin geometry, precise forging, elegant tapers, and purposeful performance come together in a blade that reflects the strengths of both worlds.

Canadian orders can say goodbye to unexpected duties, additional customs fees and exchange rate fluctuations; all our prices are clear and upfront.
