Because the first run struck a nerve, we decided to push the concept further.
This Damascus 2.0 limited batch was born from a special request. After seeing some truly standout pieces in the past, we went back to Nguyên in Hanoi and asked for the same dark, moody presence—only a new batch production with some new handmade characters.
The result is a blade with a nearly blackened overall tone, dark Damascus waves rolling through the steel, a brut-forged upper section, and a copper-Damascus lower half that catches the light in a way photos barely do justice. The tall heel adds generous knuckle clearance, giving the knife a confident, planted feel on the board without sacrificing agility.
At the core is 52100 carbon steel—a no-nonsense performer. It takes an extremely fine edge, holds it well, and glides through food with that smooth, controlled feeling that makes you want to keep cutting just for the fun of it. Thin behind the edge, responsive on stones, and incredibly satisfying in use.
This knife is part of a small, limited run by Nguyên, and every piece is hand-forged and hand-finished. Variations in tone, Damascus flow, and contrast naturally occur from blade to blade, meaning each knife has its own character.
