Hand-forged by Kakushin’s skilled friend Nguyên in the Hanoi region of Vietnam, this ±170mm Ko-Kiritsuke is built as much for performance as it is for character.
The blade features a 52100 carbon steel Damascus core, surrounded by stainless Damascus cladding with bronze accents, creating a layered finish that feels raw, refined, and completely unique. Because every blade is forged individually by hand, each knife has its own distinct Damascus pattern—no two are exactly alike. The spine starts at approximately 3.0mm at the heel and gradually tapers toward the tip, giving the knife a reassuring feel in hand while keeping the front of the blade agile and precise. Behind the edge, the geometry is kept thin for effortless cutting and excellent food penetration.
Extra attention was given to the ergonomics as well. The choil is smoothly rounded, with a subtle finger groove ground into the heel, creating a comfortable and natural pinch grip that makes the knife feel exceptionally secure in hand. At roughly 170mm, the Ko-Kiritsuke format lands in a very versatile sweet spot—compact and nimble enough for detailed work, while still offering enough blade length for everyday prep.
