This batch was a special request — after seeing some incredible pieces in the past, we asked Nguyên (Hanoi, Vietnam) to forge that same dark, moody aesthetic: a deep, almost blackened blade, dark Damascus waves, a brut-forged upper section, and a copper-Damascus lower half. Add a tall heel for extra knuckle clearance, and you’ve got a knife that feels as good in the hand as it looks on the board.
At the core sits 52100 carbon steel, a proven performer that gets insanely sharp and stays that way. It’s thin behind the edge, super smooth through food, and just… satisfying. The Damascus cladding — steel and copper layered together — gives each blade a dramatic, textured look you really don’t see often.
Because every knife is hand-forged, each one comes out slightly different. The patterns shift, the shapes breathe a little, and no two pieces match perfectly. That’s the charm — every knife in this tiny batch has its own character, its own personality.
We only had a handful made, and once they’re gone, that’s it. Match it with a unique handle crafted and assembled at Kakushin, and you’ve got a blade that’s genuinely one-of-a-kind — no factory twins, no copies, just your knife.
Kakushin can handle the blade-to-handle assembly for you at our shop. If you're new to the custom knife world and want to confirm the fit and sizing of a handle with a specific blade, feel free to reach out!
