Forged in Shimabara City, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan, by independent blacksmith Yosimitu Kajiya, each of his blades are crafted entirely by hand. The model in particular was assembled at Kakushin's Knife Shop, featuring custom handles imported from the Netherlands. The goal was to create a unique piece that is front-heavy yet ergonomic, achieved through the slight upward curve of the handle, promoting a better grip - if you like heavier knives and pinch grip you blade, you will fall in love with this one.
Nakiri knives are highly known for their long and flat blade. They tend to be fabricated with a higher heel compared to other models and are extremely popular for chopping vegetables. They are the ideal candidate for cutting long veggies in a single chop, but also great for a push or pull cut into harder vegetables. The square shape allows you to easily grip your fingers around the handle with no fear of busting your knuckles when chopping your vegetables.
Many chefs that regularly work with vegetables and fruits consider their Chuka Bocho a primary knife in the kitchen.
